Afternoon tea and a talk: The Story of the Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings

Penny Ward from the Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings will relate the history of the Flaxmill, the world’s first iron-framed building, from its beginnings at the end of the eighteenth century to the present day. The talk will address the social impact of the Flaxmill, as well as its importance in the history of the technology of buildings. 

The talk will be followed by afternoon tea, consisting of a variety of delicious sandwiches, locally sourced scones and cakes.
